HRH arrives in Cardiff
Howell’s School, Llandaff have launched an exciting new initiative, Hywelians Return To Howell’s (HRH), a scheme which welcomes alumni back to school to take part in careers coaching, fundraising and social events.
The first HRH event took place in May, when two students from the class of 1983, Nicola Allison and Katherine Spencer, returned to school to host a Cheese and Wine Evening. Nicola is now at the helm of the Chateau de Seuil vineyard in Bordeaux, and Katherine heads up the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company, so guests were in entirely capable hands. After a champagne reception, guests made their way to the Great Hall, where Nicola and Katherine demystified the art of wine and cheese tasting, pairing four delicious Bordeaux wines with a variety of cheeses. It was a wonderfully relaxed event, and hilarity ensued half way though the evening, when English teacher Dr Robert Knowles hosted a very entertaining cheese and wine quiz.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a great example of the Howell’s community coming together, as current staff, governors and parents were joined by a large number of Hywelians.
