NHEHS was praised for its development of strong young women

In a virtual awards ceremony, the 14 strong panel of judges, chaired by Dr Helen Wright, announced NHEHS as winners in the Girls’ School category for the school’s “bold encouragement of initiatives and programmes that support the development of strong young women who have a clear voice”.

Such initiatives include an inventive three-day film festival held earlier this year and led by a team of Sixth Formers. The festival championed the underrepresentation of women in the film industry and encouraged students, peers and the industry to #SETtheExample by creating space for women in film. The award also recognised the huge range of initiatives from the junior school right through to the final senior years which encourage NHEHS girls to find their voice, connect with what matters to them and use their voices in a meaningful way.

Matthew Shoults, Headmaster of NHEHS, said:

“I am delighted to have received this award. This award acknowledges our passion and commitment to enabling and encouraging girls to take the lead, to find their voice, and to have meaningful impact. We are extremely proud of all our girls, staff and parents who so enthusiastically support our various initiatives and endeavours”.
