“OUR STUDENTS SHINE IN THEIR GCSE RESULTS: A SPOTLIGHT ON SOME OUR GIRLS”

Following a triumphant post-pandemic return to public exams, our students across the year have achieved excellent results across all subjects. Of the year group, 60% achieved 8-9s while a record 34% achieved 9s in their exams, smashing the national trend of a downfall in results this year. An impressive 20% of Year 11 students achieved straight 8s and 9s. While the results were strong across all subjects, English Literature and French achieved their highest grades ever, with 58% percent achieving 9s for English Literature and 50% achieving 9s for French. Similarly, 68% achieved 9s in Chemistry and 68% achieved 9s in Religious Studies (the department’s highest grades ever).

Blackheath High students will be going on to study a wide variety of subjects, from Economics to Computer Science to Textiles.

Celebrating their successes, Ms Argile, Acting Head at Blackheath High School, commented:

“We are genuinely so proud of all our Year 11s for achieving such incredible GCSE results. Over the last couple of years our students have had to show amazing resilience in the face of very challenging circumstances, and they approached it all with unbelievable resilience so I’m ecstatic to see them have the opportunity to shine in these exams.

We are constantly looking for ways to engage our students in all subjects, not just in their favourite ones and I think this has been reflected in the consistency of their results across a huge range of subjects. We are looking forward to welcoming them back in September for the next stage of their education journey.”
