Portsmouth High School was delighted to welcome back the Class of 2020 for a social distanced awards evening

Chair of Governors, Mrs Krysia Butwilowska, welcomed the girls saying:

‘You are now alumnae, not only of Portsmouth High School but also as a member of the GDST family.  Both can be supportive and helpful so keep in touch.  Use each day wisely recognising that every action and decision has consequences.  Once the day is done leave it be.  Plan for tomorrow and embrace the promises and opportunities it holds.  Live each day to the full and value it as a gift which is as exciting as it is demanding.’

Girls were presented with prizes, certificates and cups and music was provided via video link from Sixth Formers Thalia Burke and Kendra Kittredge.

Despite a challenging year all the girls got a place at their choice of university and they embark on the next stage of the exciting journey in the next few weeks.  Destinations include; Cambridge, Surrey, Liverpool and Newcastle with courses varying from Medicine and Bio Veterinary Sciences to Law and Criminology.

Headmistress, Jane Prescott, added:

‘You don’t know what lies down most of the turnings at crossroads… change and challenge are character building and all experiences makes us learn much about ourselves, our resilience and our fortitude.  My message to you is not to focus on the destination but the journey and enjoy all the experiences along the way.’
