Head, Mrs Kate Reynolds said: “We are immensely proud of the adaptability and resilience shown by this year’s GCSE cohort. Their first experience of public examinations was in unchartered waters and they responded to the challenges and uncertainties of the past year with hard work and determination. I would like to congratulate each and every student for their outstanding results and to extend my gratitude to their teachers whose professionalism and support for the girls has been phenomenal.  We are all looking forward to continuing to work with and inspire these students as they embark on their A Level and IB studies.”

“We are immensely proud of the adaptability and resilience shown by this year’s GCSE cohort”

On top of their GCSE subjects, a number of dedicated students achieved grades in additional subjects including Italian and Dance GCSEs, a Philosophy Certificate from the New College of Humanities, and an Additional Maths Level 3 qualification, which was taken by the top set and will be excellent preparation for A level and IB studies at Sixth Form.

As well as their GCSE studies, students benefited from a bespoke programme of learning and preparation for Sixth Form – Intro to Sixth – led by new Head of Sixth Form and former Head of English, Luke Benedict.  The two-week programme comprised talks and seminars including extended study sessions in each of their A Level subject choice or IB Higher Level subject choices.  The emphasis on critical-thinking, stimulation and enrichment was matched with opportunities for extension and further reading or research and practical ‘how to’ guides to Sixth Form life.

As the only Sixth Form in Bath to offer both A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, Royal High School is a popular choice and sees an increase in new students joining the current cohort for the new academic year.

This cohort followed a path laid by previous years and their achievements are equal those of their high achieving predecessors.  This indicates that a professional, robust and rigorous process was carried out to ensure the students grades were truly indicative of their abilities.
