Sporting success for South Hampstead High

At South Hampstead High School, there is an ethos of inclusive excellence within sport. Over the course of the past academic year, there have been a succession of highlights.

Sports for All week involved girls in taster sessions across a range of new activities, from rugby and volleyball to yoga and Train Body Brain, combining movement with mindfulness. Meanwhile, a busy term of training and fixtures (for A teams through to E teams) produced great results, from GDST Rallies to a spectacular win in the London Dance and Cheer Academy Cheerleading Final.

The school celebrated sporting excellence at its annual Sports Awards evening. England netballer and Commonwealth Gold Medal winner Kadeen Corbin presented prizes to over 70 girls, including the school’s Sportswoman of the Year, Noa in Year 10.

The term ended with a very sunny Sports Day; special mentions go to all those who broke school records – an incredible 12 new times and distances were set, despite the heat.

Sporting success was not confined to the pupils – congratulations also go the school’s PE Staff. Head of Netball, Miss Hardy, has recently been selected as U13 Assistant Satellite Academy Coach for Middlesex Netball, and Miss Levin, who leads cross-country and athletics, has qualified to represent team GB at the World Triathlon Championships next year – an inspiring team of positive role models.
