The Governing Body of Redmaids’ High School and Trustees of GDST are in full agreement that our shared mission, values and ambition for girls’ education will bring extensive benefits to students, staff, parents and alumnae of Redmaids’ High School, as well as the entire GDST family of schools.

Welcoming Redmaids’ High School to the GDST family is a significant milestone in the history of both educational charities, equally and fiercely committed to the future of girls’ education.  This year, Redmaids’ High School celebrates 390 years of excellence in girls’ education, underlining a proud history of educating girls in Bristol. The school will become the 26th member of the GDST family, which includes some of the most successful girls’ schools across the United Kingdom. The GDST is renowned for pioneering innovation in how girls learn best and is committed to reaching as many girls as possible. It is an enormous honour for the GDST to extend the national footprint to Bristol, a city with a long-standing commitment to equality and inclusivity.

The GDST celebrates the unique identity and heritage of each of its schools.  Redmaids’ High will provide a new and exciting member of this family of schools, enhancing and reinforcing our shared belief in the benefits of an all-girls’ education.  In joining the GDST, Redmaids’ High students and staff will benefit from a wide range of opportunities to collaborate, share and learn from schools across the country. This move will amplify further the benefits of a forward-looking education that equips every girl with the confidence, skills and agency to become a future leader and changemaker, in whatever she chooses to do.

Over the coming weeks and months there will be a range of opportunities for all students, staff, parents and the wider community to get to know more about the GDST and Redmaids’ High, as well as to explore the many benefits this move will bring to everyone involved. We are excited about the journey ahead as we come together to reinforce our commitment to the future of girls’ education.
