‘Topping out’ at Putney High School

Putney High School reached a much-anticipated construction milestone as they celebrated the ‘Topping Out’ of their new Science, Music, Drama and Debating Centre.

The student build committee – who help to make decisions about the new building – along with Headmistress Suzie Longstaff and Cheryl Giovannoni, CEO of the GDST, donned their hard hats and high-vis jackets to climb to the top of the building and tighten the final roof column.

The new centre, which is replacing the old Science block built in 1973, will celebrate science and the arts in an inspiring, cross-curricular environment.

Scheduled to be fully open in September 2021, the building will be a space where pupils and staff will want to come together to think, discuss, rehearse, perform and to be.
