Excellent A level results for Wimbledon High School GDST in an extraordinary year…

wimbledon high a levels

It was lovely to see our Year 13s for the last time today as they came to school (at a social distance) to collect their results.

Outgoing Head Jane Lunnon said:

“It was of course the most unusual of results days but it was a pleasure to celebrate with these bright and capable girls as they stride out to new adventures. Almost all of them are heading to their chosen universities and they do so with our profound admiration and pride for all the uncertainty and worry they have endured with such stoicism.

“The headline statistics are excellent (29% A*, 71% A* – A, 91% A* – B and 98% A* – C) and speak to the hard work of students and staff  – we are proud of them all and congratulate every one of our Year 13s wholeheartedly.

“But this year more than any other we are reminded of the fact that education is not about counting grades but about respecting the amazing young people these students have become. Seeing them wrestle with the impact of abstract Ofqual algorithms and respond with such integrity, resilience and cheerfulness was heartening. Their kindness and sensitivity towards friends whose results were not quite as they would have wished (we’ve seen some unfathomable decisions taken centrally) says everything about what matters most in education and gives me hope that we’ll see some brilliant leaders emerge from this generation.”
