Four young girls from Kensington Prep School in Fulham have successfully auditioned for places in the National Children’s Orchestra. Two eleven year-olds, an eight and seven year-old faced tough competition to win their places and are already starting performance rehearsals. Said Kensington Prep School’s Music Director, Mr Jonathan Burgess “To win so many places at the National Children’s Orchestra this year is a great accolade for the girls. Winning places in the Orchestra is a wonderful great opportunity for young people to develop their music skills, explore a wide repertoire of music and gain even more performing experience. We wish them the very best of luck.”
Music plays a big part in the life of Kensington Prep and a record 97% of the girls in the school learn an instrument. The school orchestra has over 100 players and there are several school choirs and music ensembles. The highlight of the school’s music calendar is the Summer Concert with the whole school performing at Cadogan Hall in Chelsea.
