The past term has seen the confirmation of two very prestigious awards for Northwood College for Girls; the Eco Schools ‘Green Flag’ Award and the National Quality in Careers Standard ‘Career Mark’.
The ‘Career Mark’ recognises the excellence of our careers education, information, advice and guidance provision. Ms Thompson, Head of Careers and UCAS, compiled an extensive portfolio of evidence which illustrated how we meet and, in many instances, exceed National Standards in careers education.
Preparing our students for the future has always, and will continue to be, an integral part of the education they receive at Northwood College for Girls and we are proud that this has been recognised by the achievement of this prestigious award.
Our Eco Committee’s continued hard work was rewarded with the Eco Schools ‘Green Flag’ Award - their equivalent of a gold award. The assessor from Keep Britain tidy visited the school in May and spoke with Eco Champions from both Junior and Senior schools.
The Eco Champions took the assessor on a tour of the school, pointing out our ‘green’ projects, discussing our eco agenda, and answering all the questions the assessor had. The assessor completed her visit by going through our portfolio of evidence – a collection of projects details, policies, and meeting minutes.
We were delighted to receive the Green Flag and it has given our environmental initiatives further momentum. We look forward to seeing what we can achieve before our reassessment in two years’ time!
