Carol Chandler-Thompson, Head Blackheath High School

Set in an enviable ‘village’ like location, within the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Blackheath High School has a long history of educating a rich social and cultural blend of students that reflects the cosmopolitan character of London itself. Individuality is cherished and there is a culture of open-mindedness and harmony.

Its aspirational culture and committed teaching staff ensure that every single girl achieves excellent examination results. In its 2014 Inspection Report, the ISI deemed the school to be ‘excellent’ in every category from pastoral care to student achievement.

Students make exceptional academic and personal progress through an individual, personal approach to the academic development of each student. Curious learners are encouraged to use initiative, adaptability and develop the conceptual agility to explore problems creatively and seek solutions, whilst respecting the diversity of other perspectives.

Our daughter has been transformed into a charming, confident and ambitious young woman. Her grades have surpassed all of our expectations.
Parent, Blackheath High School

The co-curricular and enrichment opportunities at Blackheath High are distinctive in their breadth and originality. Its clubs and societies are an integral part of the education, providing both balance and the opportunity to think and act ‘outside the box’. A bespoke programme of lectures and enrichment lessons from specialists act both as inspiration and a challenge to find out more. Sport, music and drama are highly prized and are very popular at all stages in the school.

By the time they leave, Blackheath High School girls have matured into accomplished, poised and intelligent students, ready to flourish in the university environment. Characteristic of the individuality of its students is the diversity of university destination; girls’ eventual destinations range from Oxbridge and London universities to Art Foundation at St Martin’s and Kingston.
