Career development

Our staff are an essential part of ‘the GDST difference’, which is why we invest resources and time in their development. We want them to fulfill their own aspirations – for their own sakes and for the benefit of our schools and pupils.

GDST career development opportunities include:

  • The Middle Leaders Development Programme, for department or Year heads. It includes best practice in teaching skills; developing and leading a team; and leadership skills at departmental level as well as in relation to the school as a whole and to the GDST’s wider goals
  • The Aspiring Leadership Programme, a one-year development programme consisting of face-to-face workshops, mentoring, coaching and school-wide projects. It aims to increase the pool of potential heads and senior leaders across the Trust
  • Access to other extensive training programmes for both teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Access to grants and loans for professional qualifications

There are also opportunities for staff to join and participate in communities of practice, collaborating with colleagues from other schools.
