Our commitment to our supporters

As donors to the GDST or one of our individual schools, we want to ensure you are treated with the same thoughtfulness and care that you have shown in choosing to donate. Our supporters are vital members of the GDST community and we strive to provide the best experience for you as possible.

The GDST is registered with the Fundraising Regulator and therefore all of our central and individual school fundraising activities are carried out in accordance with the standards set out by the Code of Fundraising Practice.

The following four values support all standards in the code:

Legal
All our fundraising activities meet the requirements of the law, including the Trust’s commitment to current data protection law which is outlined in our Privacy Notice.
Open
All of our fundraisers will be open with the public about our processes and will explain if asked for more information.
Honest
All of our fundraisers will act with integrity and will not mislead the public about the charitable objectives of the GDST or how any donations may be utilised.
Respectful
All of our fundraisers will demonstrate the utmost respect in any interactions with the public. Whilst reasonable persuasion is permitted in fundraising, our activities will not seek support in any way which is an unreasonable intrusion on a person’s privacy, is persistent or places undue pressure on a person to donate.

Donor Charter and Fundraising Code of Conduct

Furthermore, our activities take account of the guidance provided by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising in its Treating Donors Fairly framework and also, as a registered charity, we operate in line with the Know Your Donor principles set out by the Charity Commission.

We have produced our own Donor Charter and Fundraising Code of Conduct which can be viewed here – this will be reviewed on an annual basis.

In summary, we commit to the following for any donor to the GDST or one of our individual schools:

  1. You decide where to direct your gift – 100% of your donation will be allocated to the area of benefit you choose. All costs associated with our fundraising activities are funded by the GDST and/or individual GDST schools.
  2. We promise to update you on the impact of your gift – we will always be clear about why we need your support and we will report transparently about the difference your gift is making. We will also keep you updated about other GDST and individual school initiatives and news.
  3. We will work to ensure you receive the right level of communication regarding your gift – if you have a preference as to how we should contact you, or would like to opt out of particular communications, please get in touch using the details below.
  4. Your personal information will be kept securely – we are committed to protecting your data and have rigorous standards to meet this commitment. Find out more by viewing our Privacy Notice.
  5. We will appropriately thank you and acknowledge your support – your generous support will be recognised in our annual list of donors, unless you request not to be listed. We may also contact you to discuss acknowledging your support in printed and e-publications. If you wish for your gift(s) to remain anonymous, please let us know.
  6. We will be available to answer questions or discuss your gift – our Philanthropy & Alumnae Engagement team is happy to field any questions you may have, discuss options for giving or to receive feedback on our activities. Please get in touch – we are here to help.
