GDST girls meet sporting stars at BT Sport Action Woman Awards

A group of GDST girls enjoyed an inspirational evening at the annual event which celebrates outstanding women in sport. One of the girls, Kirsten Vogel from Northampton High School, gives us her thoughts on an amazing evening.

On the 4th December, eight girls from the GDST were lucky to attend the BT Action Woman in Sport Awards. This took place at the BT studio at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and it was an inspirational evening in which we were able to meet many incredible sports people.

We were able to have a tour around the BT Sport studios before the main event, and it was inspiring to learn about how the so many different people are able to work together to be able to bring us the entertainment that we see on television.

We then went on to meet Clare Balding, Judy Murray and Sam Smith, before being taken to the filming studio where the main event was being filmed.

All of the athletes present were highly celebrated role models and it was amazing to be able to meet sports personalities such as Judy Murray, Johanna Konte, Frank Lampard and Tammy Beaumont.

Jodie Taylor took the overall award, the Action Woman in Sport award, and the evening came to a close on a high.

Thank you to all the staff and chaperones that made this evening possible, it really was brilliant!!
