A-Level students “truly deserving” of their superb results

Following another excellent set of A-Level results for Shrewsbury High School Sixth Formers, students will take up places in 2022 to study Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Law, Mathematics, Drama and Acting, Business, Music, and Graphic Design to name but a few. With nearly half of all grades A*-A, and over 70% A*-B we are celebrating another year of stellar performance, and we are thrilled for all our students who have worked so hard and who will now be heading off for such an exciting array of university courses.

“I am so proud of our brilliant year 13s who have shown themselves to be young people of enormous character and spirit throughout the last few years. They are truly deserving of the superb results that they receive today.” – Headteacher Jo Sharrock

Headteacher Jo Sharrock praised her year 13 students for their talent, hard work and resilience as they sat formal examinations for the first time following the disruption of Covid to their GCSE exams.

“We are thrilled both for their academic successes, and the marvellous well rounded young people that they have become during their time at Shrewsbury High, embracing our ethos of discovery and enrichment both in and out of the classroom. Our whole community – teachers, support staff and parents have supported these students through an incredibly challenging few years and we are all delighted with this final flourish.

“As always, our A-Level results are testament to the brilliance and ambition of our students and indeed our dedicated teachers, with whom they work so closely. We are very proud at Shrewsbury High of the breadth of academic excellence at A-Level with each Faculty represented in the haul of A*/A and we are particularly delighted for our Art, German and Latin departments who achieved 100% A*/A grades, our English Literature students excelled with 73% at A*/A, and with 100% A*-B grades, more success for our Classical Civilisation, Computer Science, Music and Politics departments.

“Congratulations to all our students. I will them every success and happiness for the very bright futures that lie ahead”.
