Appointment of new GDST Chair of Council

In July 2023, at the end of my term, I will be stepping down from my position as Chair of Council. It has been an incredible honour to serve as Chair and as a Trustee over the last nine years for an organisation I have been part of since my years as a student and one that means so much to me.

I am very pleased to announce that the GDST Council has appointed Mrs Vicky Tuck as the new Chair. Vicky is currently Deputy Chair, a position she has held since December 2019, and brings a wealth of experience from the education sector and at board level.

Vicky has a long association with the GDST including teaching roles at Putney High School and Bromley High School before serving as Principal of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, a position she held for 15 years. In 2017, Vicky completed a six-year tenure as the first female Director General of the International School of Geneva, the world’s first and largest international school and the birthplace of the International Baccalaureate movement. She has since gone on to hold governance roles at two UK independent schools and has worked nationally and internationally as a freelance consultant to support best practice in leadership and governance in education.

Cheryl Giovannoni, the Trustees and I are delighted to welcome Vicky to her position. I am wholly confident that her commitment to girls’ education and to the values of the GDST will ensure that the organisation continues to thrive with her as our new Chair.

Vicky will take up her position in July 2023 and serve for a three-year term. I will work closely with Vicky over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.
