“We are all absolutely delighted that the hard work, determination, resilience and focus that our students, and their teachers, have consistently demonstrated has been fully recognised and rewarded today”

87% of the results achieved A* – A grades with 46% of grades at A* and 100% of the grades at A* – B.

Mrs Zara Hubble, Head, commented: “We are all absolutely delighted that the hard work, determination, resilience and focus that our students, and their teachers, have consistently demonstrated has been fully recognised and rewarded today.”

“With 78% of our pupils achieving straight A*/As, these grades are a true testament to the rich academic curriculum and culture of scholarship at NWC. Our Year 13s have worked tirelessly throughout their school careers, and endured a particularly challenging eighteen months due to the pandemic, something that no one could have predicted when the girls joined the Sixth Form in September 2019. I am so proud of them, they have absolutely earned these phenomenal results, always demonstrating true grit and commitment to each of their subjects.”

Based on today’s results, NWC anticipate that 97% of the students will go on to their first-choice university. Academic Deputy Head, Mrs Rebecca Brown, commented: “We are unashamedly ambitious at NWC. I believe that today’s success is due to the fact that we really do know each girl and her individual strengths, which enables us to think strategically about how best to develop her talents, whilst motivating and challenging her each step of the way.

“We have been blown away by the resilience that has been demonstrated by this particular year group. We teach all our girls to think independently and positively, to become masters of agile and creative thinking, and these particular skills have proved absolutely vital during the pandemic. Together with their phenomenal teachers, Year 13, has ensured that the disruption caused by Covid has not disrupted their academic development and success.”

Following the retirement of Mrs Hubble next month, Mrs Brown will become Head of Northwood College for Girls. Mrs Brown commented: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead such a formidable team of talented and knowledgeable teachers. Each one works indefatigably every day to ignite intellectual curiosity and imagination in our students, always encouraging them to embrace knowledge and discovery, and supporting and inspiring them to be their very best selves.”

“I am confident that all our girls will thrive academically, but I also appreciate that to truly excel young people need more than examination results alone. We equip our girls with the confidence, the communication and analytical skills, and the values to succeed and contribute in a world full of opportunity and change.”

Equipped with the tools and techniques that will enable them to act courageously, ambitiously and authentically, always with optimism and conviction.”

Mrs Hubble concluded: “We will certainly miss our Year 13, but they are all a “NWC girl for life” and I am delighted that they will now join a vibrant community of over 70,000 GDST alumnae. This unique network offers our students access, and opportunity, to connect to a vast number of successful women in a range of industries and environments.

“We wish each student the very best for the future, I am confident that they now leave our fabulous school with many happy memories and ready for the next stage in their lives – highly qualified, equipped with the proficiencies and dispositions to excel in the workplace, and fully cognizant of their own strengths.”
