Oxford High’s new Sixth Form and Arts campus to launch in 2020

Due to open in January 2020, the new Sixth Form and Arts building at Oxford High will be home to a Sixth Form campus that reflects OHS’s reputation as a leading educator of girls.

With design input from current students, the building will have state-of-the-art teaching rooms for exploring beyond the curriculum and challenging the norm, alongside space for both quiet and collaborative study. Outside will be landscaped outdoor places for study and the building design will reflect the innovative style of teaching that OHS is renowned for.

With a strong heritage of creative, entrepreneurial alumnae such as Amy Isles Freeman and Emma Bridgewater, the new OHS building will also be home to the Fine Art and Textiles departments alongside the rapidly growing and popular areas of Robotics, Design and Animation. There is a purpose-built gallery to showcase the girls’ work and which we hope will become a hub for art in Oxford. This new creative space has been designed purposely to house specialist equipment for both traditional and new media and technology.

The building will also be home to a multi-purpose auditorium that will benefit the whole school and bring together our local north Oxford community. We want to install specialist cinematic equipment with performance lighting and a sound system that will enable us to show live broadcasts from the RSC, Opera, Ballet and more and to provide a worthy setting for the wealth of external speakers we are fortunate enough to attract to the school.

We need to raise an additional £300,000 to be able to fund the extra features that we feel will make this a transformational development for generations of bright, talented girls to come.
