Talented Bromley High School student gains place at Italia Conti

Congratulations to Bromley High School student and talented performer Rosie who will be attending Italia Conti from September having achieved brilliant results in her A-Levels. Italia Conti is one of the UK’s best Performing Arts institutions. Its alumni include Naomi Campbell, Russell Brand and Pixie Lott.

Achieving an A* in Dance, A* in Music and B in Drama means Rosie has secured her place to study for a Musical Theatre degree at the renowned school. Commenting on her success, Rosie says,

“Over the last few years, dance has been greatly impacted by the lockdown and Covid restrictions, which has meant that performances have needed to have been presented to audiences via other means. Learning choreography online always brought its challenges with the tight spaces, opposite rights and lefts, and the slight delay. However, learning dances from the garden in the hot summer did provide a unique experience for us all.

Even with the challenges along the way, my school’s dance department has offered exciting opportunities that have helped to enrich our dance education.”

She continues, “Because of Covid, my first round audition for Italia Conti was filmed and sent off by video submission. This was very challenging as performing to a camera is difficult, and nothing is ever perfect. You can complete a turn sequence 100 times and look back at your footage and the slightest thing, such as the angle of your head, might be ‘slightly’ off and the tape seems worthless.

“Italia Conti’s Musical Theatre course is spread over three years in which we study the three disciplines; singing; acting; and dancing. At the end, you perform in a third-year musical which is performed to agents who will hopefully sign you to enter the industry. Once my degree has finished, I hope to perform in the West End and National and International Tours. I would like to thank Bromley High for helping me to gain a place on a prestigious course with very successful graduates and I hope to make the school proud in my future roles.”
